VICTORY NATURE PLAYGROUND

- Urban adventure space for children -

This project is about a nature play area for children under 12 in cities. The project site is Victory Community Park in Southwark, London. The park is adjacent to the Victory Primary School and belongs to the region of the Elephant and Castle regeneration area but managed by the local authorities. The purpose of creating this play area is to provide nature, where children can find “freedom, fantasy, and privacy (Louv, 2009)” in an urban area. The three design goals for the new nature play area are nature contact, independence, and community cohesion. The playscape was designed based on the type of movement skills and activities of children.
