Greening the Historic Streets of Sudbury and Promoting Carbon Neutral Travel
This design revitalises the town centre of Sudbury. Connected green corridors promote biodiversity and green infrastructure improves the town centre environment.
A celebration of Sudbury’s history is the idea that forms the foundation of the design. Four aspects of the town’s history are represented and interwoven.
-
The wealth generated from the wool trade in Medieval times.
-
The prosperity from its location on the first navigable waterway from 1705.
-
The silk production of the 1800 and 1900s.
-
The life and work of Thomas Gainsborough, the 18th Century artist.
