PROFESSIONAL FLORISTRY
BA (Hons) Professional Floristry and Floral Design
Final year BA (Hons) floristry students have completed a substantive research project exploring key issues which face the floral design industry today. Research was conducted during autumn 2019 through questionnaires and interviews, with some of the leading players in the industry; florists around the country and in South Korea; consumers; and other key contributors. The research was supported by in-depth literature reviews allowing the students a thorough understanding of their chosen topic.
The students should have interpreted their findings into bespoke installations for the degree show: but sadly Covid 19 put paid to that. However, the research projects are a fascinating read and we are delighted to present a summary of these projects, highlighting issues facing the industry today.
Please also enjoy the gallery of student designs which not only demonstrate students’ high-level practical craft skills, but also their knowledge of materials and mechanics, allowing them to develop their creativity as designers through creating bespoke, inspirational designs.
We are so proud of our students, not only for their design work and academic research, but also for the resilience that they have shown during their studies.
