HEALING LANDSCAPES, RESILIENT COMMUNITIES
Creating healthy restorative healing places, improving physical and mental health at Queen's Hospital and Oldchurch Park, Romford, London
When people are sick or in the process of recovery from medical interventions, getting in touch with nature is an effective way to heal. People in good health can also benefit from the restorative effect of nature. Natural places do not have to be in rural areas, they can be gardens, local public parks, or riverbanks in urban areas. Maximizing the green space that surrounds hospitals can be the best place to provide this as it can help both people in hospital and the local community. This project suggests new a landscape design proposing this idea providing a restorative environment for many users.
