Flood Park
Llanrwst, North Wales, has suffered increasing levels of extreme flood due to climate change. Hard landscaped solutions have been ineffective, costly and environmentally damaging.
Site uses the ecosystem services of riparian landscapes to create an environmentally and economically sustainable solution to flood mitigation whilst creating an open green space for the community. Riparian landscapes slow and store water until flood levels fall, all whilst creating highly biodiverse space.
Site uses a mixed topography to create a dynamic design usable in all levels of flood, with circulation and experience around site changing with water levels.
