Revitalising Exeter’s Historic Quayside

The overall ambition is to create a space that is designed around the health and wellbeing of the users. This will be done through various methods of planting and landscape design to create spaces that will sustain and improve the health and wellbeing of the user.

Footpaths, cycle routes and exercising areas will all be implemented in order to promote walkability, cycling and exercise in and around the site in order to reach the goal of creating a healthy, useable space. The implementation of ‘green gyms’ will give people an alternative method of outdoor exercise. As well as creating an area which is seamlessly linked to the urban boundaries whilst also being a break into nature away from the urban lifestyle.

The design is heavily focused around the use of water and the effects of flooding due to the flood risk that is associated with the site and how this ‘feature’ can be used to our advantage within the design.
