Reclaiming Airport as Landscape

With UK wide airport demand set to grow significantly many airports are expanding. Historically airport expansion has been driven by economic and political rather than environmental imperatives causing a disconnection from the landscape and exacerbating many environmental problems.

London Luton Airport is one of those airports set for expansion. This project builds on the existing expansion plan, presenting an enhanced proposal in an attempt to reconnect the airport to its landscape. Through considering the three elements of technology, humanity and biology as an inclusive whole this project proposes a synthetic approach to the problems posed by the complexities of airport design and environmental fragility.
