Yr 1 - SOUND ART
Narrative Environments
Beginning in early 2021, 1st year students on the BA (Hons) Art and the Environment course have been researching contemporary themes in sound art practice, investigating sound as a medium (what it is made from) and as a subject (what it is about).
They began by exploring the technique of deep listening in order to perceive the difference between the involuntary nature of hearing and the selective nature of listening, translating their findings through drawing.
More recently, contextual and narrative approaches to mapping site and place have been explored through the production of new sound-based artworks, which you can listen to below.
